About Us
The Hernando Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1982, with 13 musicians.  One of the founding members is still with us!  2017-18 marks the orchestra's 35th season.  Our orchestra has planned programs aimed at presenting musical enjoyment for all ages.  Some of the finest musical talents in the area are members of the orchestra.  Our orchestra consists of dedicated musicians who contribute their time and talents to make the Hernando Symphony a premier pops orchestra.  The orchestra performs regular season concerts in the months of December, February, and April, in addition to special outdoor park concerts in March and July.  Ticket sales and contributions help support our Mission Activities.

The orchestra members would like to thank all of you for your support of the arts here in Hernando County.  We hope you sit back and enjoy our upcoming season filled with both old and new favorites.

Meet Our Conductor
MICHELE DILUZIO began her musical career at age 10 when she taught herself how to read music and play the trumpet.  Over her career, she has become a published music composer and arranger, and has experienced many facets of music including, orchestra, jazz, dixieland, big band, steel drums, choral, music theory, handbells and private lessons.  Trumpet is her major instrument, however, she also plays flugelhorn, baritone and percussion.

Michele was one of 13 musicians who formed the Hernando Symphony Orchestra in 1982.  She was the orchestra's Principal Trumpeter from 1982-2014, and Assistant Conductor from 2000-2014.  Michele became the Conductor of the Hernando Symphony at the start of the 2014-15 season.  In addition, she plays frequently in churches, and is a pit musician for various theater organizations.  Currently she plays trumpet with the Nature Coast Brass Quintet and the Florida Jazz Express, and has been employed with the Hernando County School District since 1982.

Michele is delighted to begin her fourth season as Conductor of the Hernando Symphony Orchestra.  She enjoys working with their talented musicians, interacting with the patrons and looks forward to another exciting season.
